The H80i was easy to install and has performed fine until Wednesday. I had never built a machine with liquid cooling and thought this would be a good time to take advantage of what liquid cooling can do for a gaming machine. This included a Corsair H80i liquid cooling system. It’s a beast of a machine, but I wanted to put the best of the best into it so it would be ready for what ever comes along in the next year or two to replace FSX.
You may be aware I built a brand new flight sim PC just last September. Get the latest Flash Player or Watch this video on YouTube. The Adobe Flash Player is required for video playback. I’m off to fly now and enjoy the eye candy.
You’ll find links to download Matt’s P3D configuration files he discusses. I took a slight deviation from the flight plan to get a little closer to the Golden Gate before making my turn to join the ILS for runway 12 at KOAK.Īll-in-all I’m very pleased with these settings in my P3D setup. I do love the new livery.Ĭlimbing out and starting our turn to join the departure and head west towards Salt Lake. I’ve always been a big fan of American Airlines. I truly love the shadows on the flightdeck in P3D.Įxterior view while parked at the gate KDEN. This is the American Airlines Airbus A319. I didn’t crop these images so the FPS info would be included in the images.
The series of screenshots below are a flight from KDEN to KOAK (with a stopover in KSLC). Check out the YouTube video I link to below for all the info on downloading the P3D config files. In my own testing with the tweaks Matt suggests, I get around 28 FPS around KDEN ( Flightbeam Studios) and easily achieve 30 FPS in default P3D airports. In both FSX and P3D, I have these locked down in the Frame Rate Limiter function of Nvidia Inspector to 30 FPS. Finally, I don’t get excited about the number of FPS or frame per second I can achieve. I first want stability and reliability, then…and only after tweak for overall performance. My goal for tweaking P3D was the same as it is for FSX. As I clearly pointed out when I discussed my FSX Tweaks, any tweaks which work for me may or may not work for you. So much so that for now on, I’ll be flying the Aerosoft Airbus pretty much exclusively in P3D (along with GA flying) and will use FSX for my PMDG Boeing 737 and 777 flights. These are not my P3D Tweaks, but I’ve installed and tested them in my P3D setup and they work incredibly well. Now before a proceed, let me once again be clear. I was actually watching that Twitch stream at the time and as I have an almost identical hardware configuration as Matt, I was anxiously awaiting the release of his video featuring all those tweaks. Matt spent many hours and took the advice of many of his fellow flight simmers to modify and tweak his P3D setup and did it with much success.
Matt is a truly an amazing guy who is devoted to sharing his flight sim knowledge with others. I’m talking about Matt Davies (AKA Belynz). Until Now!Ī fellow flight simmer (who also creates YouTube videos and performs live streams on Twitch) recently streamed a Twitch feed while he took the time to perform several tweaks to his P3D setup. My FSX install on my new sim machine has been rock stable and I just haven’t felt the need to really do more with P3D. I’m now running P3D v2.4 I really didn’t do much with it other than to write this “ First Look” article. I skipped P3D v1, and while I once said I would never go down the P3D jet bridge, I did learn to “ Never Say Never” and got on board with v2.3 in the late September time frame. My personal history with Prepar3D or P3D for short has…well been short.
But let’s just put all those aside for now. Of course, I still have all those same questions and frustrations with regards to licensing as I’ve pointed out most recently. While P3D v1 was mainly FSX with a change of identity, P3D v2 has proven to me that P3D is the future of flight simulation. However, I’ve applied the tweaks exactly as they are outlined and have tested on my machine through the course of several days and about a half dozen flights.Īs many of us have already known for some time, P3D v2 is truly amazing. I didn’t take the time to research and painstakingly test these tweaks. I recently learned about and performed some tweaks to my Prepar3D (P3D) setup and am absolutely, positively, enthusiastically and utterly amazed.
